The Kalabari is a tribe of the Ijaw people of Rivers state living in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria. They migrated from the Benin fringes of Ijaw land and became a large kingdom of about 35 communities which constitute one of the largest ethnic groups in Rivers State and they are the largest Ijaws in terms of population in the state. The people were originally fishermen before the coming of the Portugese to the west African coastline. The Kalabari like most coastline tribes were wealthy as a result of interactions with Europeans.
The Kalabaris share similar culture and language to the Okrikas, Bonny, Opobo, Bayelsa Ijaws (Nembe in particular), Delta Ijaws, Ondo Ijaws and some parts of Edo state. The kalabari wedding attire is known for its luxurious and affluent style with heavy beads on the neck and coral beaded cap. Beautiful Tina was clearly happy on her traditional wedding day to British man, Samuel Adokiye Bradbury.
Kalabari Tina exchanged her traditional wedding vows with British-born Adokiye in the great city of Port Harcourt in the presence of family and friends in an event planned by Betower’s Patch Events with creative cake design by Oven Secret Ltd.
For their celebration, they dressed in the typical Kalabari “Etibo” with their coral beads gently sloping down their neck and a bowler hat and walking stick for the groom, Adokiye. Tina’s make up was done by Belle Bedazzled Luxury Hair and Make Up.
