THE “YORUBA DEMONS” AND THE TRADITIONAL MEN’S WEAR

Yoruba Demons” is a term that started trending last year on twitter, this trend found itself to our other social media pages and our vocabulary. Today we celebrate this term by showing you how to rock the traditional Yoruba men’s wear. The Yoruba traditional men’s wear known as the Agbada is a magnificent piece which used to be worn by men with big pockets and big cultural position in the early days.

20-10 years ago a lot of young men would have refused to be seen in the agbada because it was associated with older men who had aged, it was a sign that the man was “Baba Nla” aka big daddy. Now the Agbada is for everyone to showcase their fashion prowess, younger men can now be seen in the agbada even ladies too.

The agbda style has also changed, in the old days, agbada used to really broad and wing like worn over a tunic, now its a lot different. First they are not as heavy as they once wear, they’ve become shorter in length and width and other fabrics have been incorporated to the tailoring of an agbada set.

The agbada is favored all over the south-west part of nigeria, and in lagos, a lot of men no matter what tribe rock the Agbada to owambe’s and ceremony’s. So we can say anyone is a “yoruba demon” as far as you are in this fabulous traditional men’s wear.

Now for you guys that would like to own another pair of the agbada, or women who would love to have one sewn for her man (or herself) here are some traditional men’s wear that would inspire your choices   check them out:
