TRADITIONAL BRIDAL GELE INSPIRATION

Nigerians love gele as a means of complementing their native attires. Depending on the occasion, gele can be worn in a casual way or in a rather large and elaborate fashion.

Although gele can be worn for day-to-day activities using other fabrics, the elaborate ceremonial ones (usually made of a material that is firmer than regular fabric) are worn to weddings, special events, and church activities. These firmer fabrics include aso oke, damask, paper dress and the likes.

Overtime, appreciation of African pride, especially among the youth, has led to the use of gele in many Western nations outside of Africa.

When worn, especially for more elaborate events, the gele usually covers a woman’s entire head. The gele is usually worn over a traditional African attire that may or may not have the same pattern as the gele itself.

Brides are usually adorned with gele and beads on their introduction/engagement/traditional attires. No doubt, traditional bridal attire is incomplete without the bridal gele to complement it.
