IGBO BRIDAL ORNAMENTS

Nigeria is such a vast country, full of different tribes, traditions and culture. One of the major tribes in Nigeria are the Igbo’s.

The Igbo’s are a people that are full of life and rich in culture, it would be naive of me to assume everybody who stumbles upon this article know about the Igbo’s and because am not naive here’s a few things you should know about this rich tribe;

Eastern Nigeria is where you can find the Igbo’s they like every other major tribe have different fascinating languages among’s them-self’s. The Igbos are a proud tribe and they are fierce, they take their culture seriously and do not joke with their traditions.

One of the traditions they uphold to the highest is the wedding ceremony. Igbo’s are the people that make sure they hold their traditional marriage ceremony in their home town, they believe so strongly in their identity and majority refuse to conform or subject themselves to the change that might mean loosing their originality.

For Igbo’s wedding ceremonies are like festival, its a celebration that brings not only the families together but the communities as well.

An Igbo bride is the shinning ornament, every family has the obligation to present her in such a beautiful way. Many would tell you that brides on their wedding day are like princesses and should be dressed as well as treated as such.

To accompany any brides attire for her traditional wedding day is her neck of beads and head of crown (in some towns others are fine with a head gear). This ornaments are sacred and very important and so a true Igbo brides who identify’s herself with the tribe has to have a neck of beads at least.
