URBAN BOUBOU STYLES YOU SHOULD SEE
Here’s the definition of boubou for some of you who can’t tell the difference, before we get into the matter at hand:
BouBou: This is a long flowing garment worn by men and women in Nigeria, Senegal, Mali etc…
Bobou’s have been in existence for quite a while now and so there is no question as to how the popularity has spanned this much. There’s a rule that says women should avoid anything that’s not flattering but like every other rule, this should be kicked out the window because the boubou is stylish even though its a flowy garment.
Tracing the origins of the boubou can take you as far as the 8th century according to historians, while we have so much love for history we are more concerned with this millennium. Much respect to the boubou style for being able to stay and maintain its popularity over centuries and much respect to the fashion day designers and style illustrators for keeping the boubou style chic and classy.
The urban boubou style is much different from those in the past however one thing it maintains is the “simplicity”. “Throwing on a bobou” is a phrase that many modern women are used to, the reason? Its a perfect outfit for running around, church and some few specific events.
