Elie Saab Designed Not One But Two Couture Wedding Gowns For His New Daughter-In-Law
It's hard not to envy Christine Mourad, who married Haute Couture designer Elie Saab's son, Elie Saab Jr, over the weekend in Lebanon. According to Brides, not only did Saab Jr propose after just three months of dating, but his father designed not one, but two couture wedding dresses for his soon-to-be daughter-in-law to wear on the big day.
The first fairytale dress, worn at the couple's religious ceremony, was a custom Elie Saab Haute Couture sleeveless tulle gown with a 14-foot train. In true Lebanese style, the dress was a study in megawatt glamour, embroidered with ivory silk and champagne lurex thread, and no less than 500,000 sequins. It took a team of 34 people hundreds of hours to complete – with 450 of those spent on embroidery alone.
