Over here in Nigeria, hats are arguably the true mark of a gentleman not shoes…just ask any “Yoruba demon”. Gone are the days when only the elderly bothered with hats either for traditional occasions or just to complement their attire.

Now, wearing hats is fast becoming a fad among the younger generation and thanks to the likes of DJ Spinall aka The Cap, it has become the new cool.

Nigerian photographer Lakin Ogunbanwo whose portraiture edges fashion and culture into the spotlight was recently featured on Vogue.com with his new photo series currently on view at Nataal’s New African Photography exhibit in Red Hook, Brooklyn.
